A surprising fact to emerge from an analysis of the Burial Records is the large number of Ministers who have officiated at burials in Blackhill Cemetery. Even allowing for duplication of some Ministers’ names the total is still well over 1000 in the 100 year period covered.
The table showing Burial by Ministers 1862-1962 (282KB) is sorted by the number of burials performed by each Minister. This gives an indication not only of who the Ministers were but also their length of service in the area. This may be of use to anyone researching the background of any of the Ministers from this area.
As an aid to identifying the Ministers themselves as well as the religious affiliation of the Sections in which they performed burials I have entered the denomination against those Ministers of which I am reasonably sure. This identification is derived from personal knowledge or from information gleaned from the database itself or from the Monumental Inscriptions, since several of the Ministers are buried in the area which they served.
If anyone reading this can help with information regarding the affiliation of any of the Ministers listed it will help in updating this list. You can email via the link on the Home page.
