This site came into existence as a result of my own search for information in the local Records concerning my forebears. It very soon became apparent that there was a Catch 22 situation in operation whereby if you wanted information about possible, but still unknown forebears, you needed to provide the very information you were looking for – forenames, or dates of birth, or dates of death, or age at death as well as having prescience about all spelling variants of both forename and surname. This was largely due to the fact that these were written records and generally were not indexed, making searching laborious. The solution seemed obvious – transcribe them into an Access database, searchable by, among other criteria, surnames. This was done, and from it the Surname/Frequency Index listing all surnames and variants, together with number of occurrences, was produced.

In parallel with the production of the database the transcription of M.I.s was done, since these show related information but not, unfortunately, for all burials. The M.I.s are shown elsewhere on the site.

If you require a copy of the Burial Records Report by Surname showing transcripts of the detailed Burial Records for a particular surname or surnames please follow the procedure shown below.

  • Check the Surname/Frequency index for the surname(s) you are researching, plus all potential variants.
  • Make a note of the surnames and their variants and the total number of occurrences.
  • You can request up to 6 surnames/variants in one search: thus Brown/Smith/Green (3) or Brown, Browne/Smith, Smythe/Green, Greene (6) are equally valid combinations. If you are searching for a range of different family surnames please separate them with / as shown. These will then be produced as separate pdf.s since individual surname groups are a lot easier to peruse; each of the combinations above would result in 3 pdf.s.
  • Whichever surnames you require please ensure that you enter them exactly as shown in the Surname/Frequency index. They may be entered sequentially with each one separated by a comma, or they may be entered as a six line list.
  • If you live outside the Sterling area please see the Currency Converter (this opens a new window; to return to this page simply close the new window). There is no surcharge for payments made in non-Sterling currencies.

Many people are not happy giving their credit card details over the internet which is why the order procedure uses surface mail. However once the pdf.s are produced security is no longer an issue therefore the Record information will be sent via email as pdf. attachments. The use of pdf.s also has the advantage that they can be readily incorporated into most genealogical software, can be easily sent to other family members as email attachments, or can be used to produce hard copies if needed.

Once you receive the information requested in pdf. format be sure to read it in conjunction with the Notes on Registers and database.  It is surprising how much information can be gleaned from these Records.
